Why I beat up my lecturer- UNILORIN final year Student explains.

The University of Ilorin final year student who was in the news recently for beating up his project supervisor, Salaudeen Waliu a.k.a Captain Walz, has given the reasons for his ruthless and irresponsible action.

.

The student is a final year student and was shown in a video trying to explain himself while being arrested by the security agents of the University.

Why did he beat his lecturer?

Captain Walz claims that the occurrence happened not totally due to his fault, as he had experienced a series of problems which affected him mentally and psychologically.

He explained that he had always gone to the office of the lecturer as she was his project supervisor to beg her for assistance to dodge the compulsory SIWES course which he missed due to a very unfortunate and unexpected event.

.

Salaudeen claimed to have met Mrs Zakariyau numerous times, begging for her help but all his efforts led to negative responses before he assaulted the lecturer.

Captain Walz, while speaking to UCJ- Ilorin (University Campus Journalists), said that a few months before the incident, he had been arrested and locked up for two months in Lagos, thereby warranting his inability to attend the required SIWES duties.

.

He said he had gone Ikeja, Allen Avenue to be precise in Lagos State, to meet a friend for the first time. According to Captain Walz, while waiting for the friend, he felt the impulse to urinate.

Walz said that due to unfamiliarity and irregularity of his location at the time, he urinated near a car parked by drainage when he was challenged by someone who probably just washed the car.

He said he was accused of being a thief and was not allowed to explain himself before a mob descended on him, beating hell out of him before handing him over to the police which led to his detention for about two months.

The final year student said after the incident in Lagos, he came back to school and approached the assaulted lecturer, Mrs Zakariyau to explain to her but the lecturer said there was no help she could offer him, and that he had to joined the next set which would result in an extra year for him.

He decided to visit the lecturer on the fateful Thursday again, and she ordered him out of her office as soon as he entered.

I got angry, I didn’t know what came over me, I started arguing and she told me to leave her office, I told her if I dont leave, what is she going to do?

She then threw a mug at me which injured me and I started beating her, he added.

Salaudeen said the female lecturer did not try to fight back, so he went on to beat her and later dragged her out of her office to continue the beating.

I dragged her out and she ran. I chased and kept beating her before people came. I tried to run but was later caught by the school security, he stated in the security cell of the institution where he was locked up since he was returned from F Divisional Police station, Tanke in Ilorin, the Kwara state.

There are rumours around the school that he has been released, however, those are just speculations as there has been no official statement by the University security unit.
