Unilorin student beats lecturer to coma- VC rages.
A student of UNILORIN has been in the news lately for allegedly beating a lecturer to coma. The incident has been confirmed by our crew and the University`s Vice Chancellor.
A female lecturer in the department of Microbiology, faculty of Life Sciences, Mrs. Zakariyah was assaulted violently by a 400 level student of the school while she was reportedly in her office.
Information from trusted sources confirmed the incident, with one of the sources adding that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Sulyman Age ABdulkareem, the Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Oladiji, the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Odunola and some other staff members to the hospitalized lecturer and her family today.
The Vice Chancellor of the University has attended to the matter very amicably, as he ordered that the lecturer be treated properly on the bill of the University.
He reportedly described the incident as unfortunate, and repeatedly said that the assaulter will be brought to justice.
The well loved and disciplined professor also used the opportunity to assure his hardworking staff of his commitment to their welfare.
What caused the rift?
According to reports, the student who was identified as Captain Walz, had requested for help from the lecturer who is his project supervisor, as he had failed to do his SIWES programme.
He allegedly entered into her office and started banging on her table before moving closer to land her heavy slaps. While she tried to escape his assault, Captain Walz followed on her heels immediately and even followed her into the office she ran into. He didn’t enter the office through the normal route as he reportedly broke into the window and gave the defenseless woman more punches.
While trying to escape, the lecturer fell to the ground and sustained injuries to her head.
Many speculate that the student wanted to kill his project supervisor as he strangled her to a coma.
As of today, Captain Walz was arrested by the Security Personnel of the University and has been handed over to the police.
Many students of the University eagerly await the end of this matter, as this is the first of this type of event to occur in years.
