What Is National Common Entrance Examination 2023?

The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) is a key exam for students in Nigeria seeking admission into Federal Unity Colleges’ Junior Secondary School (JSS 1). The exam is intended for elementary school students in their last year, particularly those in primary 6.

However, this post is made to disclose the following important information including the registration guide, eligibility criteria, exam structure, and registration dates.

National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) 2023 Date

The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into JSS 1 of Federal Unity Colleges for the 2023 academic year is planned to take place in Nigeria,  June 3, 2023.

 Registration Eligibility For NCEE 2023

The registration eligibility criteria for the NCEE includes that:

  1. Candidates must be final-year primary school students and,
  2. must not be younger than 10 years old or older than 13 years old by September 2023 to be able to enroll for the NCEE.

How to Apply for the National Common Entrance Examination Online

The registration cost for the 2023 NCEE for each candidate is N4,500.00 only. Headteachers and parents or guardians who are already registered should log in using their credentials to register.
If you are a new user, the following steps is for you:

  1. Visit the NCEE official website at https://ncee.neco.gov.ng/.
  2. Create an online account with your phone number and email address.
  3. Follow the instructions sent to your email to activate the account.
  4. Pay the N4,500 registration fee via NECO TSA using any of the following methods: CARD, BANK BRANCH, USSD, INTERNET BANKING, or WALLET.
  5. Fill up the candidate’s biographical information and attach a passport-sized photograph.
  6. Ensure to have a printed copy of the photo card.

NOTE THAT: 

  • NCEE payments should only be done through the official NECO portal.
  • After registering online, candidates will not be able to change their name, date of birth, or state of origin.
  • Qualified students who choose oversubscribed institutions may be put in an available alternate college based on Federal Unity institutions’ carrying capacities.
  • The registration website will close at 8:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

Structure of the NCEE 2023

The NCEE is made up of two papers, which includes the following:

  • Part A: Mathematics, Basic Science, and Technology.
  • Part B: English and National Values education.

Paper II

  • Part A: Quantitative and Verbal  Reasoning
  • Part B: Verbal Aptitude
